Facial Peels

REVITALISE YOUR COMPLEXION

The skin of our faces bears the marks of damage and wear more than any other area of skin on the body. Damage mostly lies in the outer layers of skin, including minor scar damage, which is why skin peels are so effective at resurfacing the skin.

Facial peels remove the dead cells, damage, and toxins in the surface layer of skin, revealing fresh, healthier, and more even skin beneath. At The Laser Clinic, we offer facial peels of different strengths to address different types and depth of damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which facial peel is right for me?

It depends entirely on the issues you want to address and the depth of skin damage. We will assess your skin and ask questions to understand your concerns and goals during your consultation, before drawing up a personalised treatment plan that is right for you.

  • Do facial peels hurt?

Again, this depends on the depth of the peel itself. Many clients tell us they feel very little pain or discomfort during a light or medium peel, but this can vary from person to person.

  • Are facial peels safe?

For most people, chemical peels are safe. Clients with sensitive or dark skin are advised to choose lighter peels, and you should avoid all facial peels if you:

    • Have a personal or family history of raised, ridged, or enlarged scars, known as keloids
    • Have taken oral acne medication in the last 6 months
    • Have frequent or severe cold sores
    • Are pregnant.
  • How long does a facial peel take?

Depending on the depth of the peel you choose, treatment will take between 30 and 90 minutes.

  • What kind of aftercare should I plan for?

    • Don’t pick at the dead skin as it peels away in case you cause further damage and scarring.
    • While your skin is healing, avoid hot or warm water when washing your face.
    • Avoid intensive exercise, hot showers and baths, saunas, and steam rooms, all of which can hinder the healing process.
    • Keep long hair off your face, perhaps by tying it back with a band. While your skin is healing, any kind of contact should be avoided.
    • Diligently apply any skin care products agreed in your treatment plan.
    • Don’t exfoliate. Your skin has to be left to peel on its own.
